Any diamond will carry a romantic message to a beloved bride, but only one will set her heart on fire. A diamond that is so perfectly cut that it has all the classic elements of a diamond’s beauty—brilliance, dispersion and scintillation. A diamond that sparkles like a red-hot fire. When Nicole Hirsty of Cobalt Events began thinking about the concept
for her Your Wedding Day Worldly Event Design, she first thought of the
words “decadent” and “luxurious.” Then she thought about the fabrics:
layers of fine linens and tapestries in deep purples and golds. “I
pictured a decadent room in a European home,” she says. “I envisioned
layers of rich fabrics framing a room, luxurious furniture and a
feasting table with gold china and stemware.” |

Using layers of fabric as a backdrop to frame and establish the tone for the room, she then incorporated several focal points. One, the tabletop, also featured rich colors and textures designed to convey a decadent feel. The table, nothing less than aristocratic, featured merlot-hued King Louis crystal stemware, lavender silk linens, and florals in purple shades. The gilt-edged table was accentuated by regal appointments: a gothic gold china pattern set on gold chargers and King Arthur gold flatware. A small gold footed plate placed delicately atop each dinner plate displayed the escort card and was designed to serve as a wedding favor for guests.
Nicole added a personal element to the table too. “Creating a unique
table number can add a personalized touch. We created a table number
out of fabric that pulled all the colors in the room and the table
together.”
Other focal points included the Napoleon couch and chairs, and a wall
of chandeliers suspended over the ottoman, in a truly sophisticated
taste.
Those preferring this type of wedding, Nicole says, would include
couples with sophisticated tastes who want to bring a blend of history,
tradition, and culture to their décor; a bride and groom who have
traveled to many destinations. But others would also find this Your
Wedding Day Worldly Event Design to be out of this world!

#21 LA FLEUR TABLE
Cover your entire table top with a single bold color of petals. Not
just a scattering, but the entire top of the table with a thick layer
of petals! You can purchase them at a farmers market or order them
through your florist. Place your chargers, place settings, glassware
and centerpieces in a contrasting color and lots of candles directly
onto the petals for a stunning, romantic look!

#31 FLORAL DECOR
No wedding is complete without flowers. Try updating the traditional
centerpiece by using masses of your favorite flowers in a variety of
complementary tones for added texture and interest. For instance, if
your bloom-of-choice is the gerbera daisy, try one centerpiece with
dozens of red gerberas, another with orange, and another with
fuchsia-colored bunches. Let your imagination run wild!

#11 QUICK FIX
Traveling with an emergency kit is like the American Express campaign, “Don’t leave home without it.” It should have everything from panty hose and nail glue to smelling salts and Tums, but the most commonly used item is SAFETY PINS! Although you should have a needle and thread, I have resorted to using safety pins for fixing hems on tuxedos, bustling the brides gown, pinning broken bra straps and creating a veil or headpiece out of tulle when the bride’s was left at home. Safety pins are great for a “quick fix.”
