this new issue!

Your Wedding Day is on fire! Of course, I don’t mean that in the literal sense, rather, the staff and I are totally thrilled over the contents of this new issue!
Each issue begins with a theme; a single tiny spark and from that spark, an ember slowly grows. For this issue, our theme was texture, texture, texture. With this as our kindling, we began selecting the environmental spaces in which our photo shoots would happen, and in turn it influenced the gowns and accessories we selected and the designs for the cakes and bouquets. Selecting Montecito’s famous Lotusland for our fashion feature, with its sumptuous gardens virtually overflowing with exotic plants, exuding an abundance of textured landscape, set out enthusiasm ablaze.                                       For our lifestyle department, in which we feature various pleasures of life such as chocolate or the beauty of a tea cup, it became natural to feature exquisite couture linens. As you turn the pages to the event design feature, our theme of texture maintains a strong role—each designer incorporating fabulous, versatile linen with various elements layered upon another, creating a multi-faceted textured design.
The YWD staff is especially aglow over the article, “Shades of Green,” which delivers an important message on how couples can honor their environment—the world around us—as they honor each other on their wedding day.  The article offers easily-accessed suggestions for bringing an “eco-consciousness” to your day. With the US wedding industry being $72 billion dollars-strong each year, if only 3% to 5% of the nation’s 2.5 million annual weddings “went green,” that would mean an almost $4 billion dollar-support base for environmentally- based

businesses.  As you make plans for your wedding day and your bright futures together, this article helps you make plans for the future of your Mother Earth.
And lastly, the “hottest” new feature beginning with this issue, making your wedding planning even easier, we’ve created the YWD Directory and Resource Guide, which organizes all of the information you’ll need on wedding resources and locations. We designed this handy guide specifically for your convenience, and at half the size of YWD Magazine, the directory, featuring custom-selected vendors and locations known to provide exceptional service, fits neatly into your pocket or purse.
This is the best YWD ever, and I think you can now understand why the staff at Your Wedding Day is all fired up!  You’ll want to read this issue cover-to-cover—don’t miss a thing—and you’ll be glowing too as the plans for your fabulous day unfold between our pages: first a spark, then a flame, and finally becoming the brilliant glow which is your dream.

Tips
  • #31 FLORAL DECOR
No wedding is complete without flowers. Try updating the traditional centerpiece by using masses of your favorite flowers in a variety of complementary tones for added texture and interest. For instance, if your bloom-of-choice is the gerbera daisy, try one centerpiece with dozens of red gerberas, another with orange, and another with fuchsia-colored bunches. Let your imagination run wild!

  • #16 COMFORTABLE RECEPTIONS
Reception spaces are taking on a comfort theme nowadays. Rather than using cocktail tables alone, couples are creating a lounge effect in their reception areas by adding cozy furniture groupings of sofas and coffee tables, along with tenting and draping, lamps and lanterns, lit up trees and dozens of candles. You may want to hire a jazz quartet or flamenco trio to create a sultry ambiance.  Some couples are even hiring cigar rollers!  You can also use this set-up outdoors for a living room beneath the stars!

  • # 1 - LOUNGING ANYWHERE
Wonder what to do to a resort ballroom to make it more interesting and intimate?  You can create individual lounge areas by renting tents of sheer flowing fabric and adding sofas and coffee tables with lots of candlelight in them.  You’ve suddenly created that romantic lounge atmosphere in a standard ballroom and given it more intimacy.  Your guests can move to different “rooms” during the cocktails hour or or they can dance the night away.
