Style Tips #31 through #34 on Floral Decore, Tabels, Guests & more…

#31 FLORAL DECOR

No wedding is complete without flowers. Try updating the traditional centerpiece by using masses of your favorite flowers in a variety of complementary tones for added texture and interest. For instance, if your bloom-of-choice is the gerbera daisy, try one centerpiece with dozens of red gerberas, another with orange, and another with fuchsia-colored bunches. Let your imagination run wild!

#32 WHO’S WHO?
Bringing families and friends together for the first time at the rehearsal dinner can create a real memory test. Nametags can help to connect names with faces. Brides can make up special tags to go with their wedding theme.  Adding “MOB” and “FOG” can also help identify the mother of the bride and the father of the groom.  The nametags are for the rehearsal only; on your wedding day they will all know one another.

#33 HOLLYWOOD GLAMOUR
You can have an “Old Hollywood” theme to your wedding, complete with a big band, signature martinis passed, lamps on each table facing a big stage, and possibly a classic black-and-white movie playing on a wall during the reception. Feather boas and pin striped suits will be seen along with feathers in your floral arrangements and top hats on the men.  Have your photographers and wait staff create the mood by dressing in theme clothing as well.

#34 TABLE LINES
Square and rectangular tables are very “in” right now, but the extra cost of renting specialty linens for these tables can be prohibitive. One alternative is to make a table runner to go over the basic white linen that most facilities provide at no extra charge. You can find gorgeous fabric by the yard at fabric stores or in your local garment district. To make the runners, fold the fabric in half and cut down the center. Voilà—two table runners and a dramatic look for a fraction of the cost!

Tips
  • # 1 - LOUNGING ANYWHERE
Wonder what to do to a resort ballroom to make it more interesting and intimate?  You can create individual lounge areas by renting tents of sheer flowing fabric and adding sofas and coffee tables with lots of candlelight in them.  You’ve suddenly created that romantic lounge atmosphere in a standard ballroom and given it more intimacy.  Your guests can move to different “rooms” during the cocktails hour or or they can dance the night away.

  • #26 MARRYING MINDFULLY
Creating the “perfect wedding” can easily overshadow what is really important about getting married—creating a sacred and lifelong bond with your beloved. Your wedding is not a “to-do” list. Take time to tend to your relationship and to yourselves so that you enter into the celebration relaxed, joyful, and with a full heart.

  • #21 LA FLEUR TABLE
Cover your entire table top with a single bold color of petals. Not just a scattering, but the entire top of the table with a thick layer of petals! You can purchase them at a farmers market or order them through your florist. Place your chargers, place settings, glassware and centerpieces in a contrasting color and lots of candles directly onto the petals for a stunning, romantic look!
