Style Tips #11 through #15 on Men’s Formalwear, Parties Go Coed, Quick Fixes & more…
#11 QUICK FIX
Traveling with an emergency kit is like the American Express campaign, “Don’t leave home without it.” It should have everything from panty hose and nail glue to smelling salts and Tums, but the most commonly used item is SAFETY PINS! Although you should have a needle and thread, I have resorted to using safety pins for fixing hems on tuxedos, bustling the brides gown, pinning broken bra straps and creating a veil or headpiece out of tulle when the bride’s was left at home. Safety pins are great for a “quick fix.”

#12 PARTIES GO COED
Not only can the bachelorette and bachelor party be on the same night, they can “party” together. For example, friends now are planning girls vs. boys scavenger hunts where the final clue leads the bridal couple to the same place. Whether a road-trip to Las Vegas or a peaceful wine tasting tour with your close friends together, male and female, it’s sure to be a fabulous send-off.

#13 CINEMATOGRAPHY
If you haven’t seen the latest in wedding videos, you need to check out cinematography! It’s like watching an old movie of your life with your loved ones. The cinematographer will shoot it using “real” 8mm or 16mm film stock to create a unique look for your memories.

#14 FOR THE GUYS
Make sure all your groomsmen try on their tuxedos. Many assume that since there was a “fitting” several weeks earlier that when the tuxedo arrives, it will fit without a problem. Not necessarily. Sometimes they are fit incorrectly or the style is cut differently, or simply, the store made a mistake. No bride would get fitted once for her wedding dress, so the guys should not either. A reputable tuxedo store with an in-stock inventory will handle any last minute changes on the spot, but if you wait till 30 minutes before the wedding to try it on, it may be too late, even if they have the replacement available.

#15 ONLINE COORDINATION
Surprise your guests with your own personal wedding website. Wedding websites provide a more convenient alternative to mailing bulky travel and accommodation information packets, sending out mass updates, and answering guests’ questions by phone or email. It also makes gift-registering easier. Your guests can learn about how you met, how he proposed, get directions, times, weather conditions and even view links to other websites that provide information on the things to do in the area. Your guests will appreciate this information.

# 6 RECIPES FOR FAVORS
Gather together the favorite recipes that you remember as a child. They could be special family recipes, holiday menus, etc. Have them bound in small books, affix a wedding label on the front with your monogram and date that you were married. And there you have it, a unique favor that your guests will use again and again. Also, it is a wonderful way to acknowledge grandmothers and mothers.

#31 FLORAL DECOR
No wedding is complete without flowers. Try updating the traditional
centerpiece by using masses of your favorite flowers in a variety of
complementary tones for added texture and interest. For instance, if
your bloom-of-choice is the gerbera daisy, try one centerpiece with
dozens of red gerberas, another with orange, and another with
fuchsia-colored bunches. Let your imagination run wild!

#16 COMFORTABLE RECEPTIONS
Reception spaces are taking on a comfort
theme nowadays. Rather than using cocktail tables alone, couples are
creating a lounge effect in their reception areas by adding cozy
furniture groupings of sofas and coffee tables, along with tenting and
draping, lamps and lanterns, lit up trees and dozens of candles. You
may want to hire a jazz quartet or flamenco trio to create a sultry
ambiance. Some couples are even hiring cigar rollers! You can also
use this set-up outdoors for a living room beneath the stars!
