The Grand Del Mar is an amazing resort in Southern CA that combines elegance and romance with graceful architecture. It is the perfect spot to vacation, host a meeting or celebrate a wedding. And that is exactly what we did! For the release of YWD’s winter issue, the best-of-the best joined for an evening to celebrate, share intimate conversations, and unwind from the close of another wedding season. As guests were greeted by valet, they entered the resort’s Elizabeth Capella, a beautifully appointed chapel evoking an intriguing mix of romance with rich, detailed design. This light and airy space with stained glass windows and European influenced architecture was the perfect backdrop for passed hors’d oeuvres, signature cocktails, and brief words from YWD’s Editor in Chief, Thea Lignos-Hargrove.

Following the preliminary hour, the party was escorted to the Manchester Salon for additional amazement. Upon entering the beautiful ballroom, deep red florals flowed from stenciled ceilings over a decadent dessert station, an impact designed by renowned floral and event designer Kathy Wright, of Kathy Wright & Co. Along with this beautiful display, the overall theme for the evening was a cozy, swanky environment indicative of a 1940’s nightclub. The ambient vibe was perfectly achieved through sexy lighting provided by San Diego Stage & Lighting Supply and guests were ultra comfy as they sat on lounge seating courtesy of Plush Lounges. Much meandering occurred throughout vignettes of mini-tables artistically and succulently dressed from the remarkable abilities of Wildflower Linens, Chameleon Chairs, and florals from Kathy Wright & Co. But what truly made the evening a grand success was the guest appearance of none other than Wayne Foster of Wayne Foster Music & Entertainment. All enjoyed his tickling the ivory as well as the performance of his talented musicians.

The evening was pure enjoyment thanks to the contribution of many such as Je Fais Event & Design,
Samantha and Sarah, for their flawless coordination of the event; The Bridal Bar for their community
outreach; and the beautiful photographs by Alyssa Nicol Photography; this evening of elegance, decadence and beauty will be forever remembered.
