The city of Santa Barbara, The American Riviera, selected for its
reputation as a premiere wedding destination, proved an ideal backdrop.
One drive around this pristine location, nestled between gentle
cascading hills and the deep blue Pacific, reveals why celebrities, from classic notables such as Sir Laurence Olivier and Vivien Leigh, to contemporary stars including Gwenyth Paltrow, Mira Sorvino, Will Farrell, and Avril Lavigne, chose this Riviera for their weddings. One glance at its inviting Old Spanish architectural arches and red-tiled roofs and pervasive lush landscapes, will entice you, too, to be wed in this city-by-the sea.
This weekend event began on Saturday where couples took a tour of the city provided by Santa Barbara Old Towne Trolley to personally view Santa Barbara’s wedding venues, rehearsal dinner locations, resorts, and historic landmarks while snacking on freshly-prepared boxed lunches sponsored by Quantum Kitchen/Mondial Catering. For couples who wished to experience Santa Barbara’s top wine country venues, they hopped aboard Cloud Climbers Jeep Tour and ventured into the rolling hills of Santa Ynez Valley.
On Saturday night, the “mini-event” preceding Sunday’s main event, 30 couples and event sponsors joined YWD at the hip location, Mondial Private Dining for great cocktails and cuisine. Guest speaker Jill La Fleur, The Wedding Planner, a destination wedding producer specializing in Santa Barbara, discussed wedding planning, the local region, wedding décor, and tips on style.
For the grand event on Sunday, guests were greeted by valet provided by Signature Parking to enter a masterpiece showcase. The Santa Barbara Historical Museum, a jewel “hidden” amid the city’s historical district with exquisite courtyards, made an ideal canvas for the event sponsors Classic Party Rentals, The Tent Merchant, Wildflower Linens, Chameleon Chairs, and Bella Vista Designs, to create an ambience of unparalleled beauty with draped chiffon, specialty tents, lounge furniture, custom chairs, couture linens, grandiose chandeliers, and more. The event featured the most up-to-date trends on wedding fashion, florals, cuisine, products, entertainment, beauty, photography, and venues where guests met top event professionals, one-on-one, in a relaxed atmosphere.
The main highlight of the afternoon was a rare, exclusive showing of designer bridal gowns including bridal and eveningwear collections by couture designer, Amal of Beverly Hills , who gave away a custom-made couture gown valued at $5,000, and couture designer Kirstie Kelly’s debut of the new fashion line, Kirstie Kelly for Disney’s Fairytale Weddings , featuring her Disney Princess Bridal and Disney Maiden Collections.
