How better to launch YWD into Northern California than to host an extraordinary event at the prestigious Meadowood Napa Valley. That is exactly what the editors of YWD did on November 6, 2006, extending the invitation to the top 100 Bay Area event professionals.
There was no better venue for this event. This exquisite property, nestled in a 250-acre valley, is the original gathering place for Napa Valley’s wine-growing community. Established in 1964 as a private club, Meadowood has become the preeminent wine country destination for the discerning bride and groom.
The prestigious guest list included Sasha Souza Events, Kristi Amoroso Special Events, Meg Smith, Melissa Panico, and Barry Peterson of the St. Regis Hotel. The guest list also included Kelly McLeskey and Sarah Roach of The Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn, Kevin and Nancy Chin, Karen Axel of Tapestry Flowers, Jewel of Savadelis Videography, Michelle Walker, and eighty-nine other amazing professionals.
The day began with champagne and hors d’oeuvres served on the forested hillside of the Vintners’ Glen. After an hour of casual conversation and music by North Bay Entertainment, the group proceeded to the Vintners’ Room for a formal lunch.
Florals served as the basis for the décor, with rich deep plum and soft yellow centerpieces designed by Karen Axel of Tapestry Flowers. Letterpress menu cards, created by Peculiar Pair Press, graced each of the settings which featured satin champagne and chic ivory linens provided by La Bella Party Rental Company. Guests were treated to a “hot-off-the-press” copy of YWD Magazine, which was placed on each fruitwood Chiavari chair.
The delectable menu, prepared by Meadowood’s Executive Banquet Chef, Alejandro Ayala, included spice-scented Butternut Squash Soup paired with a racy Miner Family Vineyards 2005 Viognier, Simpson Vineyard; Grilled Organic Salmon with Golden Beet and Arugula salad paired with a 2005 ZD Pinot Noir Carneros; and Heirloom Apple Tart Tatin with Crème Fraîche ice cream.
Following dessert, Your Wedding Day magazine’s, Editor-in-Chief, Thea Lignos-Hargrove, spoke on behalf of the YWD creative team addressing the magazine’s future-focused inspiration and its greater vision for the Bay Area.
