An Extraordinary Day Trip: Castello di Amorosa Winery
This hill-top 121,000-square-foot medieval castle just outside San Francisco, is a marvelous place to visit during the day. Castello di Amorosa means “Castle of Love”, and it’s a meticulous vision of a 12th century Tuscan castle sporting a moat, drawbridge, dungeon and watch towers, medieval church, stables, and arguably the single most impressive barrel room in the United States. Four levels underground are a labyrinth of cellars, housing thousands of wine bottles and barrels, showcasing centuries of architectural elements. Tours of the beautiful Castle and Winery are by reservation.
