Samantha and Allan met at the Peninsula Hotel in Beverly Hills. Although they’d “met” and chatted on-line before, this was their first meeting face to face, and Samantha couldn’t find him. When she did, it was love at first sight, and they talked nonstop for three hours.

A few months later, Allan proposed on a boat in the San Diego Harbor. He had chartered the boat for the occasion, and recalls being very nervous. Samantha had been expecting the proposal a week earlier when they were in the Alps, so she had no idea he was going to propose that night.

The goal was to create a ceremony that would be relaxed and inspirational, so Samantha and Allan chose the Bacara’s Miro Lawn, on a bluff overlooking the Pacific. The service was a reform Jewish Faith ceremony, under a chuppah fashioned from bamboo, with delicately-hung crystals and flowing white chiffon.
Because guests were international, many cultural influences were incorporated into the wedding, including Latin influences to honor Allan’s family from Columbia. During the ceremony, musicians played the music of different cultures and ethnicities including Eros Ramazzotti, Tina Turner, Sting, Sade, and Botecelli.
Samantha wore a Kenneth Pool fantasy princess design gown from Saks Fifth Avenue, Beverly Hills which featured a princess tulle skirt scattered with crystals, and a heavily beaded crystal and pearl strapless bodice. She wore a full-length ballerina-style veil. Allan chose a Hugo Boss tuxedo from Bloomingdale’s.
During the cocktail hour, a Latin band played for flamenco dancers, and guests enjoyed sangria, Sushi, and other international cuisine.
As they entered the ballroom, guests received a sculpted place card created by Colombian artist Roberto Gutierrez, a favorite of Allan’s mother. The ballroom was designed to be comfortable, relaxed, and classy and guests were given a visual treat, a display of eight-foot floral columns of roses. Theme colors, exotic lime green and yellow were blended with pink, white and green. Silver Chameleon chairs completed the exotic look.
Entertainment was provided by Salsa Splash! Bandidos de Amor, and a Flamenco troupe provided a mix of Latin and other types of music. Ballroom dancers entertained with Latin ballroom dances.
Culinary delights, catered by Bacara, included Hickory Smoked Filet Mignon, Soy Glazed Chilean Sea Bass, and Grilled Vegetable Napoleon. Specialty stations included Cold Canapés; a Sushi Station; and a Sweet Bites Station with a variety of bite-sized Petit Fours.

Samantha and Allan stayed at Bacara that night, then took a four-week honeymoon in Paris, Prague, Istanbul, and Ephesus, a province of Izmir.
