Good Shepherd Catholic Church
and Four Seasons Beverly Hills, CA

Isabel and Joe met through Isabel’s friend, Alison, who attended college with Joe. Alison mentioned Isabel to Joe, and Joe became somewhat obsessed with her name. Isabel says, “He couldn’t stop thinking about ‘this girl named Isabel,” so Alison arranged a double date. “Joe was fun and charming right from the start,” Isabel recalls, “and we just clicked right away.”

They continued to click, and 18 months later Joe proposed during a cleverly-concocted scheme. Isabel recalls, “I went to the Peninsula Hotel to get a massage I had won in a bet with Joe the weekend before. I had no idea that anything out of the ordinary was about to take place.” After the massage, the manager invited her for a sneak peak at the Peninsula’s new spa accommodation. He led her down the hallway and opened a hotel room, and called it a “sample spa room.” Isabel says, “I still totally believed this! He told me to go inside and check it out.” She did, finding a candle-lit room, a tub full of rose petals, and pink roses everywhere. She still thought this was a spa room! But then Isabel spotted an US Magazine with photos of her and Joe on the cover and headlines saying, “When will he propose?”, “Will she say yes?” and “Does Monti (Isabel’s dog) approve?” Isabel says, “At that moment, obviously it finally hit me, and I looked up and there was Joe on bended knee.”

The wedding, at Good Shepherd Catholic Church where Joe had been an alter boy, featured music by Saint Paul’s Catholic School children’s choir. Then guests moved to Four Seasons, Beverly Hills, greeted by a grand ball room re-carpeted in white and draped in white silk. The color theme was silver and lavender, and Isabel’s sketches of the florals she wanted were perfectly implemented by florist R. Jack Balthazar. For the ceremony, Isabel chose a princess-look with a beaded Kenneth Pool strapless gown and long train. For the reception, she changed to glamorous “old Hollywood,” with a form-fitting Monique Lhuillier. Joseph’s look was “polished and classy.” His custom-designed sleek black tuxedo and shirt were by Mr. Alex Custom Shirtmaker, Beverly Hills. His white tie and handkerchief matched Isabel’s gown. For the reception, Mr. Alex designed a black-on-black stripe tuxedo.
The wedding dinner, from Four Seasons, included Chilean Seabass, With Artichokes and Beef Tenderloin with Roasted Baby Vegetables. One dessert choice, in keeping, with the theme, was Lavender Crème Brulee Tart with Fresh Berries and Sprig of Lavender.

Isabel and Joseph honeymooned for two weeks at Le Taha’a Private Island Resort at the Bora Bora Nui.
