Haven and Hank of Brooklyn, met while attending college in California. After introductions by Haven’s best friend and Hank’s classmate, Stacey, Haven and Hank quickly became good friends. Their friendship grew, but then, Hank moved to New York City to attend NYU, and Haven went on tour with “Rent”, the musical. Their two-year-long distance relationship just made them closer, and finally, Haven was able to move to New York too.

Seven years later, Haven went to meet some friends at a hotel. However, she was met with silence instead when she knocked on the door. Then someone said ‘come in,’ and when she nervously entered, she saw a bottle of Cristal Champagne and Hank on one knee, ready to propose.

Haven and Hank wanted a “laid back” wedding with a retro 1940s/’50s feel, so their ceremony was on California’s Rincon beach at sunset, with Haven’s father officiating.
Being a self-proclaimed “vintage girl,” Haven found her perfect wedding dress, a robin’s egg blue and white 1950s wedding dress by Paula Inocent, at a flea market in NYC. She carried a fairy wand.
This set the style for the rest of the wedding attire, and staying ‘vintage,’ Hank assumed a Humphrey Bogart look with an Eisenberg & Eisenberg tuxedo in white shawl lapel jacket style with black pants.
The bridesmaids wore different black vintage cocktail dresses, accessorized with fairy wands, and groomsmen wore black shawl lapel tuxedos to complement Hank’s.
An old-time trolley, Meet Me in St. Louis-style, paying homage to one of Haven’s favorite musicals and Hank’s hometown, transported guests from the beach to the Rincon Beach Club reception.
Haven and Hank’s décor was based on a bird theme, including hand-made birds on the head table, and even atop the cake. Key colors in blues, greens, and purples were used to create an ethereal, dreamy feeling, and the Bernie Meisinger Band from City Connection played ‘40s and ‘50s hits.

Haven and Hank spent their wedding night at Santa Barbara’s Inn of the Spanish Garden, then they honeymooned in Tahiti, Moorea, where they stayed in an over-water bungalow, then Bora Bora.
