Erin and Thomas crossed paths many times before they actually started dating, once in Sydney, Australia, another time in New York, and then again on July 4th of 2003 in the Hamptons. After the fourth of July weekend in the Hamptoms, Thomas asked Erin out on their first official date.

Upon the return of a weekend trip to South Beach, Miami, Erin returned to find a bedroom filled with hundreds of candles, white flowers, champagne, and strawberries. Thomas got down on one knee and proposed with an engagement ring from Grant A. Peacock. Erin was pleasantly surprised.

The couple was married at St. Vincent Ferrer Church, a gothic cathedral on the Upper East Side with Father Michael Trainor presiding. The bride chose a slim-fitting gown by Kenneth Pool from Kleinfeld Manattan, Jimmy Choo shoes, and earrings from Kentshire. Thomas wore a black tuxedo with an ivory vest with a matching silk scarf from Ted Baker.

The couple chose to be photographed in Park Avenue at the MetLife Building in Central Park and the Grand Central Station. Erin and Thomas both wanted a big, classic, and elegant winter wedding in New York City, so they held the reception at the Capitale, previously the old Bowery Savings Bank. The architecture is grand in scale, which is similar to the Grand Central Station.

Kate’s Paperie created the menus and ceremony programs in matching theme to the invitations; Sheila Ginesin of Atlas Floral Design placed white, beaded-linen overlays on the tables, and crafted the flower arrangements into dramatic ornamentations. In honored memory of Thomas’ younger sister Kate, who tragically passed away two years prior, Erin and Thomas had engraved silver mint julep cups with a single white rose at each place-setting. The newlyweds and guests took great pleasure in the sounds of The Kevin Osborne Band.

During the reception, guests dined on lavish treats from Capitale such as Grilled Shrimp, Chicken Satay and Warm Jeweled Cous Cous. For dessert friends and family indulged in Chocolate Lava Cake, Vanilla Bean Ice Cream and Vehrona Chocolate Sauce and a tiered four-in-a-half foot wedding cake eloquently crafted by Sabine Poisson of La Renaissance Design, New York.

For the first week, the couple relaxed at the Sainte Anne Resort on the island of Seychelles, off the coast of Africa near the island of Madagascar. And for the second week, Erin and Thomas enjoyed an adventure at Tintswalo Safari Lodge in South Africa.
