Christie and Patton met at Bellows Beach in April of 2004, while he was on vacation in Oahu, Hawaii. One night in Waikiki, Patton picked a Plumeria flower.  Christie placed it behind her right ear which in Hawaii signifies that she is single. Christie states, “Once he found out that I was single, he began the journey of winning over my heart!”

On Valentine’s Day, Patton took Christie to a secluded beach where they witnessed a breathtaking sunset. Christie recalls, “He asked me to be his wife and enjoy the adventure together for the rest of our lives.”

The couple felt that only a military wedding could truly represent all that they had been through as a couple. An arch of sabres was incorporated, and Chaplain Nathan McLean, United States Army, presided.

The bride wore a strapless, ivory satin mermaid dress, with feathers on the side by designer Marissa from the White House Black Market, and silver shoes by Stuart Weitzman.  As an added friendship offering, these lovely shoes were borrowed from one of Christie’s bridesmaid who wore them on her wedding day three years before.

The wedding took place at the Bayer Estate, a beautiful Victorian home, nestled outside of Honolulu with sweeping views of the Pacific as the backdrop. The color theme for the wedding was black and white with a splash of green. The floral design, linens, lighting, and crystal accents lent a touch of elegance and beauty. To add to the décor, sparkling crystals, beautiful hanging lanterns, Chivari chairs, and beautiful flowers were strung from the branches of trees.

Guests enjoyed Lychee Martinis, Teriyaki Chicken, Fresh Fruit Skewers, Kahuku Kiawe Shrimp, Mini Cheese Burgers, and for dessert, a S’more Station was created on the fire pits provided by caterer Michelle Nakaya of Ginniberries.  There were flowers everywhere, sounds of steel drums playing, with Tiki Torches lining the beach, as a full moon illuminated the sky.  The unique wedding cake created by cakelava was a black and white animal print cake with six layers of orange scented, vibrant rainbow colored cake filled with mango and lilikoi curd.

The honeymoon was at the most magical island vacation destination, the Princeville Resort in Kauai with a panoramic view of Hanalei Bay and Bali Hai.
