Westlake Village Inn, Westlake Village, CA

Amy and Jeremy first met online via the dating service Match.com, but they were not at all excited about meeting in person. They had both dated others through the Internet service and had been disappointed. “By the time we met, we were so jaded,” says Amy. “We were both thinking, ‘Okay, lets just get this over with.’”
The two arranged to meet for a casual date at a coffee house in Westlake Village, but soon discovered that, although they’d never met, they had graduated together ten years earlier. Also, they found that they had mutual friends.
Amy and Jeremy talked and laughed for hours, but because neither one had formed expectations, it wasn’t until several “real” dates had transpired that they realized how perfect they were for each other.

So perfect, in fact, that it was only four months later when Jeremy proposed. They’d been looking at rings, so Amy knew he was going to propose, but when he would propose was a mystery. “I’d worked all day, one Saturday,” she recalls, “and when I got home I opened the door to find rose petals leading up the stairs.” She followed the path and found Jeremy on one knee, presenting her with an eternity platinum and diamond ring.

Amy and Jeremy chose a simple, nondenominational wedding ceremony based on their love. “All of our guests said they loved how they were able to feel the love,” Amy says. “That’s all that mattered to both of us.”
The pair wanted an elegant décor scheme for the reception, and chose black and white, also incorporating a fleur-de-lys design.
The flowers were all white, and Amy’s bouquet was of white flowers with white and black ribbon. Ivory linens and black napkins topped the reception tables, the cake was chocolate with white frosting that featured the fleur-de-lys symbol, and the six bridesmaids were dressed in black.
Amy describes her gown as a “princess fairytale dress,” and her hair was worn half up and half down. Jeremy wore a double-breasted black jacket with a white shirt and cream-colored tie.

The newlyweds spent a week at the Westin Resort and Spa in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, where they “relaxed by the pool and indulged in massages.”

#11 QUICK FIX
Traveling with an emergency kit is like the American Express campaign, “Don’t leave home without it.” It should have everything from panty hose and nail glue to smelling salts and Tums, but the most commonly used item is SAFETY PINS! Although you should have a needle and thread, I have resorted to using safety pins for fixing hems on tuxedos, bustling the brides gown, pinning broken bra straps and creating a veil or headpiece out of tulle when the bride’s was left at home. Safety pins are great for a “quick fix.”

#16 COMFORTABLE RECEPTIONS
Reception spaces are taking on a comfort
theme nowadays. Rather than using cocktail tables alone, couples are
creating a lounge effect in their reception areas by adding cozy
furniture groupings of sofas and coffee tables, along with tenting and
draping, lamps and lanterns, lit up trees and dozens of candles. You
may want to hire a jazz quartet or flamenco trio to create a sultry
ambiance. Some couples are even hiring cigar rollers! You can also
use this set-up outdoors for a living room beneath the stars!

#21 LA FLEUR TABLE
Cover your entire table top with a single bold color of petals. Not
just a scattering, but the entire top of the table with a thick layer
of petals! You can purchase them at a farmers market or order them
through your florist. Place your chargers, place settings, glassware
and centerpieces in a contrasting color and lots of candles directly
onto the petals for a stunning, romantic look!
