Acurrent fave in wedding trends is the lounge seating created for the reception. A lounge is ultra-chic and a cultured way for guests to enjoy the wedding experience. It is a clean and simplistic addition that attracts people to get cozy and talk. Once dining is concluded, the reception table can create the feeling of being “stuck” to your assigned seating, causing guests to not mingle freely. By creating a lounge, you’ve given your guests the opportunity to have intimate conversations with beloved family members or to create new friends. Not only does this provide a welcoming touch, this method of seating gives an air of decadence and luxury.
The color theme in this wedding lounge is black and white with touches of fuchsia and yellow. “I started with very dramatic chairs to create bold, soft touches,” said designer Nicole Hirsty of Cobalt Events. Hirsty played off this look by incorporating elements such as martini glasses, silver trays, and a candy bar, which included marshmallows and merange. The preparation here was strategically thought out. “I wanted an old vintage feel,” Hirsty explains. The inspiration for this entire lounge was inspired by the elaborate and gorgeous black chandeliers from Town & Country Event Rentals. “I like to create things that are timeless while adding modern touches,” she added.
“The black chandelier is part of our new elegant chandelier collection at Town & Country. Chandeliers provide instant elegance for any event and here is a modern interpretation of the clear crystal chandelier – but in black,” said Laird McClure, Event Director of Town and Country Event Rentals. “The furniture from Town & Country is purchased by our president and owner, Richard LoGuercio, on his frequent yearly trips to Europe and Asia. Richard’s taste and purchases ensure that the newest, best-designed, and trendsetting furniture is available to our clients,” said McClure.
Imagine sitting in a lounge, under a canopy and having a full bar to order cocktails from. By incorporating this environment into one’s wedding, it yields an immediate feeling of lush elegance. Co-designer for this lounge, Carlos, owner of Tabella Designs & Linens articulates, “The lounge has a very Los Angeles or New York club kind of feel.
It’s deliciously decadent and treats guests like royalty. This wedding lounge is all about
sophistication, comfortability and style.”
To add a bit of softness and elegance, floral designer Amy of The Hidden Garden used Calla lilies, producing a graceful presence while maintaining the desired modern look. “We even hung a picture frame made from flowers,” Hirsty said. To add a regal and luxurious touch, the couches were made from black velvet with white piping. “It’s very easy to feel relaxed and intimate around velvet,” states Hirsty. The look was pulled together with custom silk pillows in canary yellow to really give a “pop” effect. The objective was to create a cozy environment, almost as if you are sitting in your own home, “and I wanted something different, something modern,” Hirsty said. She classically explains this look as being, “sexy, modern and chic.” It’s also a great way to mix vintage and modern pieces, two dichotomies that work effortlessly together. “The glow of candlelight and the soft illumination of the chandelier give off a low-watt sexuality; not in a come-hither sort of way, but in a more refined sexuality.” Hirsty was really happy when the look was complete. “I was very pleased and it came out better than I imagined.”

#11 QUICK FIX
Traveling with an emergency kit is like the American Express campaign, “Don’t leave home without it.” It should have everything from panty hose and nail glue to smelling salts and Tums, but the most commonly used item is SAFETY PINS! Although you should have a needle and thread, I have resorted to using safety pins for fixing hems on tuxedos, bustling the brides gown, pinning broken bra straps and creating a veil or headpiece out of tulle when the bride’s was left at home. Safety pins are great for a “quick fix.”

# 1 - LOUNGING ANYWHERE
Wonder what to do to a resort ballroom to make it more interesting and intimate? You can create individual lounge areas by renting tents of sheer flowing fabric and adding sofas and coffee tables with lots of candlelight in them. You’ve suddenly created that romantic lounge atmosphere in a standard ballroom and given it more intimacy. Your guests can move to different “rooms” during the cocktails hour or or they can dance the night away. Jill La Fleur, The Wedding Planner

# 6 RECIPES FOR FAVORS
Gather together the favorite recipes that you remember as a child. They could be special family recipes, holiday menus, etc. Have them bound in small books, affix a wedding label on the front with your monogram and date that you were married. And there you have it, a unique favor that your guests will use again and again. Also, it is a wonderful way to acknowledge grandmothers and mothers.
