Think Montmartre, Puccini’s La Bohème, and Renoir’s “The Bohemian” and
you may imagine what designer Lisa Vorce envisioned upon embarking upon
her Your Wedding Day Vintage Parisian Apartment, “an eclectic and warm
space filled with antiques and beautiful statement pieces.”
Translation of this all: Parisian Bohemian Chic.
To begin,
Lisa started at 20th Century Props. Wanting her bohemia to have a
“lived in feel,” she chose the company’s baby grand piano and a
fireplace mantel. “I knew I had to have those for the apartment,” Lisa
says. |

Those pieces became the core of her design, whith all décor created around them, including dark hardwood flooring and fabric walls with custom flourish-pattern appliqué. Mirrors were added to the walls, eight mirrors, for an unconventional artistic twist.
Continuing with her Paris artist’s quarter theme, mixed china and glassware, both older and new were combined, then mixed with a blue china pattern. “I wanted the tabletop to have an eclectic, but organized feel to it,” Lisa says.
The linens were innovative too, fashioned vintage dress-style from custom-designed layers of fabrics created to cascade, light and free off the table.
Taking inspiration from the linens, Lisa wanted soft, sweet florals, layered and flowing too. A delicate mix of garden roses, jasmine vine, sweet peas, and parrot tulips was selected for their various different textural effects.
Continuing with an Avant-guard bohemian flair, Lisa chose an antique
cigar box to display the programs. For escort cards, she used various
ribbon samples to tie shredded vintage fabric to a wire dress form. “It
was my absolute favorite element from the set!” Lisa says.
Which couples would be most tempted by this type of wedding?
“Well-traveled, Eclectic, Esoteric, Avant-garde,” Lisa says.
“Non-traditional” is a word often associated with all things bohemian,
too, but this Your Wedding Day Vintage Parisian Apartment wedding,
could become any one’s tradition.

#31 FLORAL DECOR
No wedding is complete without flowers. Try updating the traditional
centerpiece by using masses of your favorite flowers in a variety of
complementary tones for added texture and interest. For instance, if
your bloom-of-choice is the gerbera daisy, try one centerpiece with
dozens of red gerberas, another with orange, and another with
fuchsia-colored bunches. Let your imagination run wild!

#16 COMFORTABLE RECEPTIONS
Reception spaces are taking on a comfort
theme nowadays. Rather than using cocktail tables alone, couples are
creating a lounge effect in their reception areas by adding cozy
furniture groupings of sofas and coffee tables, along with tenting and
draping, lamps and lanterns, lit up trees and dozens of candles. You
may want to hire a jazz quartet or flamenco trio to create a sultry
ambiance. Some couples are even hiring cigar rollers! You can also
use this set-up outdoors for a living room beneath the stars!

# 1 - LOUNGING ANYWHERE
Wonder what to do to a resort ballroom to make it more interesting and intimate? You can create individual lounge areas by renting tents of sheer flowing fabric and adding sofas and coffee tables with lots of candlelight in them. You’ve suddenly created that romantic lounge atmosphere in a standard ballroom and given it more intimacy. Your guests can move to different “rooms” during the cocktails hour or or they can dance the night away. Jill La Fleur, The Wedding Planner
