Whether you’re gettin’ hitched in the Wild West or having a traditional wedding with touches of country flair, Scott Corridan of Corridan & Company Design Studio celebrates this country theme with style. With the rural, ranch environment of Ojai Valley Inn’s Big Red Barn, Corridan embellishes what he said might be “a fantasy story of horses in neighboring stables, coming to dinner in a setting perhaps set for wranglers.”
Incorporating the natural topography and architecture, the Big Red Barn, an authentic working 800-acre ranch and stables ideal for a country casual theme in the heart of the Ojai Valley, includes a saloon, paddock, and petting farm complete with picnic tables. Concerning this location, Corridan said, “The aging wood, the dusty sunsets, the horse and cow trails, the tack, the saloon...all of these elements inspired my design. In fact, all the flowers used are all naturalized to the Ojai Valley.” Corridan combined both the native botanicals and Mexican paper flowers for bright hues.
To achieve the overall look, Corridan collected current and easily-accessible tabletop accessories and used tables and chairs consistent with a setting from 100 years ago. For the centerpiece, Corridan incorporated the hand carved angel of St. Gabriel and Talovera pottery for plates and serving pieces. “The use of apples as a ‘floral’ design element mocks the bringing the horses to the table,” explained Corridan. Other elements such as horse blankets, boots, and cowboy hats from the designer’s collection, complete the look.
Whether your theme is cowboys, country, or barbeque, Scott Corridan rounds it up!
