Trumpet Vine Catering launched in 2000 as a Wine & Tapas Restaurant in downtown Paso Robles along California’s Central Coast. In 2002, Trumpet Vine Catering redirected their focus from restaurant-tiering to full service off-site catering with an emphasis towards wedding and winery events. With Jennie Sturgeon as the new owner, she shares with Your Wedding Day the rest of the delightful Trumpet Vine story. “I immediately embraced Jill Ogorsolka’s original vision for the company and approach to catering. She and I worked closely together for many years designing, coordinating, and cooking prior to me acquiring the company in 2008.”
Speaking of her continued relationship with Jill, Jennie shares, “I am immensely proud to be part of what Jill built and I know this is what I am supposed to be doing with my career. Jill remains a dear friend and huge part of the company.”
Jennie says her inspiration comes not only from many of the traditions Jill established, but also from being allowed to be part of her bride and groom’s special day. “I am constantly surrounded by joyful energy and celebration in my job,” she said. “The whole process of meeting a
couple, learning about them, creating something that reflects their
personalities is really fulfilling.” |

In turn, couples find Trumpet Vine Catering fulfilling too. Jennie expressed that their couples’ accolades are directly associated to their company mantra: “Tasteful Cuisine, Well-Orchestrated Events and Pleasant Memories.” Jennie expands, “We strive to make our catering an experience from beginning to end.”
Fabulous cuisine, of course, inspires Jennie, “I religiously pour over my catering resource, Gourmet, and other culinary publications to look for the next menu idea or new trend in catering.” In constant pursuit of new ideas, new flavors, and presentation styles, Trumpet Vine Catering offers an elevated and personal approach to wedding catering. “I love the creativity that catering allows me. Food makes people happy and adding creative elements makes the dining experience even more memorable for a guest.”
As well as taking Trumpet Vine Catering to new levels of culinary achievement, Jennie has now instituted a new level of operation too: eco-catering. “We have made the switch to using all organic produce from local farmers and implemented eco-friendly practices in our business,” she states. Now Trumpet Vine Catering uses environmentally safe cleaning products, disposable goods, and donates used oil to friends with converted diesel engines.
As much as Jennie loves food, new trends, cookbooks, exquisite presentation, and weddings, she also loves her home turf, San Luis Obispo, the Santa Ynes Valley, and northern Santa Barbara County. Other than an expansion in to southern Monterey County, Jennie is happy – and constantly booked! – doing business right where she is, California’s glorious Central Coast. “I love the community I work and live in,” she explained. “I have had the pleasure of catering many weddings with wonderful families. It is great to get to know couples and see their families grow locally over the years.”
She also enjoys working with her local community professionals, “We work closely with many of the best professionals servicing the Central Coast and we often get to collaborate together,” she said. And lastly she shares, “I have to add, that I love my staff. They keep me young and hip!”
We think she’s right on! Jennie is “hip,” and so is the team of Trumpet Vine Catering.

#11 QUICK FIX
Traveling with an emergency kit is like the American Express campaign, “Don’t leave home without it.” It should have everything from panty hose and nail glue to smelling salts and Tums, but the most commonly used item is SAFETY PINS! Although you should have a needle and thread, I have resorted to using safety pins for fixing hems on tuxedos, bustling the brides gown, pinning broken bra straps and creating a veil or headpiece out of tulle when the bride’s was left at home. Safety pins are great for a “quick fix.”

#31 FLORAL DECOR
No wedding is complete without flowers. Try updating the traditional
centerpiece by using masses of your favorite flowers in a variety of
complementary tones for added texture and interest. For instance, if
your bloom-of-choice is the gerbera daisy, try one centerpiece with
dozens of red gerberas, another with orange, and another with
fuchsia-colored bunches. Let your imagination run wild!

# 6 RECIPES FOR FAVORS
Gather together the favorite recipes that you remember as a child. They could be special family recipes, holiday menus, etc. Have them bound in small books, affix a wedding label on the front with your monogram and date that you were married. And there you have it, a unique favor that your guests will use again and again. Also, it is a wonderful way to acknowledge grandmothers and mothers.
