Debra Hiebèrt’s event design and coordination company, Tres Fabu Event Planning and Design, officially launched in 1998, although Debra wasn’t actually planning for this to occur. “I threw my lovely mother a birthday party,” she inform us here at Your Wedding Day, “and I invited everyone I knew.” With their 300 guest list, Debra quickly turned the event into an “open-house” where guests began arriving as early as 11:00 am, as well as, throughout the day; but more astonishingly, once their guests arrived, they didn’t want to go home! “If guests showed up for brunch,” Debra explained, “they would end up staying for lunch, and onwards to dinner, and then, of course for dessert. Once our guests arrived, almost no one wanted to leave!”
Debra conveyed that this event involved a variety of menu options and
entertainment, “It was a huge, huge success, and within days, my phone
began to ring.” First, her mother’s friend requested Debra to recreate
this same style of event, but in the form of a baby shower for her
daughter.

Then, following the baby shower, another dozen calls
occurred, resulting in Debra producing numerous more events over the
next few months. “I always gained an event from someone attending an
event,” Debra said. And now, after just a few years, her business has
become full-time. “This has been one amazing journey and one of the
best rides of my life thus far!”
This journey has integrated Debra’s appreciation and love for many of her favorite things, and when we asked what inspires her to do what she does; she listed over 200 items…we’re not kidding! “I absolutely love and adore my life,” she said, “and I find that life offers so much to appreciate.” From her short list, she stated that what inspires her are, “my clients; their love stories; the environment; animals including rabbits, deer and elk; laughter; views of our world from space; mountains; trees; florals; rich fabrics; old and new Hollywood; Bollywood; European art; mosaics; cobblestone pathways; vintage maps; any and all books; American history and literature; Native American Indian culture and their music; Venetian plaster; mirrors; sunrises and sunsets; the sands of Cabo; multitudes of candy and iced cupcakes (we agree!); endless romance; new romance; aged romance; Tolstoy; the rustling of Aspen tree leaves in Colorado; the smell of rain; days at the beach; friendships; long hugs; and the morning dew on flowers.” After then telling us her longer list, Debra said, “Gosh, there is way too much to mention! Everything seems to inspire me! I guess I would say, all of life.”
When we further discussed to pinpoint what Debra loves the most, her response was, “when couples make the decision to select Tres Fabu for their design team, it is such an honor to be a part of the commitment of two souls and hearts coming together. I love that people are seeking to pave their path together through the thick and thin of life. It’s an amazing journey that they are about to partake together which I love being a part of.”
With such enthusiasm and her love of virtually everything, it’s no wonder Debra continuously hears from her couples that they choose Tres Fabu because they love that she puts her entire heart and soul into their event. “We truly care. We are consummately passionate about our clients’ wishes and needs, and we want to have their personal style constantly represented throughout their event.”
Your Wedding Day knows this first-hand, the level of Debra’s talent and creativity, because we are proud to say that Debra is a regular contributor for feature weddings, as well as, a wealth of knowledge for our editorial team regarding great ideas and concepts for future brides and grooms.
Whether it is simple and elegant, or absolutely extraordinary, Tres Fabu will provide full-service design, coordination, and production anywhere where you are. Now that Tre Fabu has branched out worldwide, Debra shared that she would love to do weddings in Scotland, Italy, and France. Debra further explains, “The couple’s wish is our command! As our tag line says, from ‘Canada to Cabo and beyond!’”
Ending our interview, Debra summarized, “I am a woman who enjoys a swanky and fun soiree. From an intimate gathering of fabulous friends to a large soiree celebrating a milestone in ones life, this has always been my passion.”
When calling upon Debra of Tres Fabu Event Planning and Design, the only caveat to consider is your reception could wind up similar to Debra’s mother’s birthday party where your guests are having such a great time, no one will ever want to leave!

#11 QUICK FIX
Traveling with an emergency kit is like the American Express campaign, “Don’t leave home without it.” It should have everything from panty hose and nail glue to smelling salts and Tums, but the most commonly used item is SAFETY PINS! Although you should have a needle and thread, I have resorted to using safety pins for fixing hems on tuxedos, bustling the brides gown, pinning broken bra straps and creating a veil or headpiece out of tulle when the bride’s was left at home. Safety pins are great for a “quick fix.”

#31 FLORAL DECOR
No wedding is complete without flowers. Try updating the traditional
centerpiece by using masses of your favorite flowers in a variety of
complementary tones for added texture and interest. For instance, if
your bloom-of-choice is the gerbera daisy, try one centerpiece with
dozens of red gerberas, another with orange, and another with
fuchsia-colored bunches. Let your imagination run wild!

#16 COMFORTABLE RECEPTIONS
Reception spaces are taking on a comfort
theme nowadays. Rather than using cocktail tables alone, couples are
creating a lounge effect in their reception areas by adding cozy
furniture groupings of sofas and coffee tables, along with tenting and
draping, lamps and lanterns, lit up trees and dozens of candles. You
may want to hire a jazz quartet or flamenco trio to create a sultry
ambiance. Some couples are even hiring cigar rollers! You can also
use this set-up outdoors for a living room beneath the stars!
