Most little girls dream of their wedding day and sift through wedding
magazines awaiting for this time to arrive. Alexandra Rembac, owner and
lead designer of Sterling Engagements, knew as a child she liked
planning parties too. “When I was little… I was about helping people. I
organized a block party...I got vendors to donate and even had a write
up in the newspaper. I can’t believe I did that –and I didn’t even know
what I was doing. I was always into parties. I planned my own bat
mitzvah, I organized other people’s parties, planned sorority events,
and even worked catering and private parties,” Rembac said, without
taking a breath.

This lively young woman is an entrepreneur and seems to have bounds of energy. It is intriguing to wonder how one person can have all her experience. “I did an Internship working on an after party for TV Guide—I did the grunt work, but I loved it. I’ve worked on product launches, premieres, and celebrity weddings. I knew this is what I am made to do. I didn’t care how I was going to get there or where I would do it; I then left the internship in 2004 and began providing on-site coordination for a planner and thought, ‘Hey, I can do this by myself,’” she chimed.
Even though Rembac is ambitious and a go-getter, she has a softer-side, which the name of her business is symbolic to her compassion. “My father passed away and his surname was Sterling so I named the business in his honor. I knew I wanted his legacy to live on and I wanted to honor him,”she shared. The name worked like a charm and once she settled on the name, she started booking weddings.
“I do everything from weddings, corporate, and social events. The things I relate to the best are executing my client’s vision....helping them fall in love with their vision....bringing it to life... seeing their reaction....and making their dreams come true,” Rembac reveals. “They trust you and rely on you for your expertise and experience… it’s a good feeling… and it never ever gets old.”
For couples planning their wedding and entering the world of budgets, it can be overwhelming at best. Usually, a bride doesn’t even know where to start and often the groom doesn’t either. “We start with a complimentary consultation. The couple and I get together; together we fill out a questionnaire to see what represents them best...a little later, we begin scouting for a venue. We definitely are experts when it comes to priorities, and I am a stickler when it comes to budget. If ambiance, food or entertainment is number one –we will divvy out the budget and figure out the rest, which sets the tone,” she explains with confidence.
Sterling Engagements was acknowledged in the TOP 5 for best wedding planner in My Fox LA’s Hotlist 2008, and won the Hyatt Choice award, and 5th Place in the Girari Tabletop Décor shootout. The company works with a variety of vendors, and they can work with couple’s with various budget ranges. She is very confident in her vendors— and knows the brides and grooms she works with will be well taken care of. “They are in good hands. I have done numerous events with my vendors over the years and they are only the best,” she reassures.
Rembac is not only capable, but highly motivated to help plan events for her clients. She has such a sweet and yet no-nonsense approach to wedding planning. Her clients are her testimony and have nothing but amazing things to say about her work ethic and style. “The most common thing I hear is that I make them feel comfortable and calm them almost immediately. A lot of brides say ‘I am so happy… you calm me.’ They feel I am here to hold their hand and walk them through it,” she confesses regarding brides feeling overwhelmed and nervous.
Sterling Engagements is committed to high-quality event planning which shows in the details. Rembac takes the time to really get to know her clients and understand what they desire for their wedding. “I am so passionate about what I do for people –and I like to make the planning process fun!” she exclaims. For the excited couples ready to get their wedding planning in action—Rembac will happily put all the details together...and even wrap it up in a shiny bow!

#11 QUICK FIX
Traveling with an emergency kit is like the American Express campaign, “Don’t leave home without it.” It should have everything from panty hose and nail glue to smelling salts and Tums, but the most commonly used item is SAFETY PINS! Although you should have a needle and thread, I have resorted to using safety pins for fixing hems on tuxedos, bustling the brides gown, pinning broken bra straps and creating a veil or headpiece out of tulle when the bride’s was left at home. Safety pins are great for a “quick fix.”

#26 MARRYING MINDFULLY
Creating the “perfect wedding” can easily overshadow what is really
important about getting married—creating a sacred and lifelong bond
with your beloved. Your wedding is not a “to-do” list. Take time to
tend to your relationship and to yourselves so that you enter into the
celebration relaxed, joyful, and with a full heart.

#21 LA FLEUR TABLE
Cover your entire table top with a single bold color of petals. Not
just a scattering, but the entire top of the table with a thick layer
of petals! You can purchase them at a farmers market or order them
through your florist. Place your chargers, place settings, glassware
and centerpieces in a contrasting color and lots of candles directly
onto the petals for a stunning, romantic look!
