Sky Facet is in the diamond business, but also in the business of the
heart and soul, and like the majority of skyfacet.com customers world
wide, young men seeking the perfect engagement ring for brides-to-be,
Sky Facet CEO and Founder, Paul Sanar, is young, only 22, and able to
personally relate to these customers’ heartfelt desires.
But Paul relates to customers of any age, and this comes naturally,
because, although just 22, he’s been working with diamonds for 17
years! His father, Sam, who quit school to work in jewelry design to
help pay his family’s bills, saved enough to open his own jewelry
factory in 1974, began taking Paul to the factory on weekends, when
Paul was five.

At 10, Paul designed his first gold ring, by 12 he was mastering the
fine art of innovative gemstone design and setting. “It was the
artistry and the beauty of diamonds that really captured my heart,” he
says.
Soon, after spending many 22-hour-day, six-day work weeks in the business, Paul was an expert, whether the subject was Sky Facet engagement rings, men’s or women’s wedding rings, bracelets and earrings and pendants, birthstone jewelry, anniversary or children’s jewelry, or women’s right-hand rings. At age 20, in an innovative move, Paul was made CEO.
“Innovative” has been more than a concept at Sky Facet, more like a mantra. The company continues to break though and redesign traditional jewelry manufacturing boundaries more and more every year, beginning in 1976 when Sky Facet became the first commercial manufacturer of platinum wedding bands.
Subsequent innovations include the company’s use of 18K versus 24K due to the former’s exceptional strength and durability. Also, Sky Facet was first to introduce palladium. Paul explains, “Palladium is from the platinum family, but about half the weight and about 12% stronger. It’s also a very pure metal that is a non-hypoallergenic. We only use 95% pure palladium in our jewelry*.
Sky Facet developed the Seamless Tubing process too, using hyper-pressure to create the company’s classic, designer, and diamond designer wedding bands, and it’s popular two-tone bands, including the increasingly popular Rose gold. It is with this innovation that Sky Facet provides a lifetime warranty with every purchase.
Technology has led to tremendous innovations in the company too, with Sky Facet now using CAD (computer aided design) when sketching new pieces. Paul says “The technology has helped us pass down the value to our customers making us the biggest online manufacturer/retailer of engagement and wedding jewelry.”
And now, after manufacturing for wholesalers and retailers for over 30 years, Sky Facet brings its products to you directly through its on-line boutique. The average engagement ring is manufactured and shipped in one business day, and the average wedding band is manufactured and shipped the same day, easily accomplished with the 65,000 independently-certified diamonds Sky Facet has on-site. Paul explains, “We manufacture all of our jewelry to each and every specific order. Every Sky Facet ring goes through a 5-stage quality inspection.” Paul adds that even with this personal attention, prices are 35-50% lower than most retail outlets.
When asked about future plans, Paul says, “Right now we are on trail to hit 53 million in sales for 2008. I’m also in the midst of starting a one of kind diamond jewelry collection called “SkyFacet 5.8.9.1.” When asked to what he contributes this great success, he says “I want to thank Jesus for helping me.”
Paul continues perfecting not just the jewelry business, but the business of heart and soul. “We know a guy buying an engagement ring is under a lot of pressure and is very emotional during the purchasing process. We can create any piece of jewelry his heart desires, and are dedicated to helping young men take the first step toward a happy marriage.”
*Paul wants his customers to be well-informed about what they are buying and the creative process, so please explore his website SkyFacet.com, for a very informative “Education” section on diamonds, gemstones, pearls, platinum, palladium, and gold.

#31 FLORAL DECOR
No wedding is complete without flowers. Try updating the traditional
centerpiece by using masses of your favorite flowers in a variety of
complementary tones for added texture and interest. For instance, if
your bloom-of-choice is the gerbera daisy, try one centerpiece with
dozens of red gerberas, another with orange, and another with
fuchsia-colored bunches. Let your imagination run wild!

#11 QUICK FIX
Traveling with an emergency kit is like the American Express campaign, “Don’t leave home without it.” It should have everything from panty hose and nail glue to smelling salts and Tums, but the most commonly used item is SAFETY PINS! Although you should have a needle and thread, I have resorted to using safety pins for fixing hems on tuxedos, bustling the brides gown, pinning broken bra straps and creating a veil or headpiece out of tulle when the bride’s was left at home. Safety pins are great for a “quick fix.”
