Kristin Banta Events

You could say Kristin Banta’s venture into wedding planning began with the sound of music. Initially, her design work began in conjunction with a group of other designers planning fashion shows and celebrity fundraisers benefiting non-profit organizations. That quickly led to a new phase of her career, more focused on music-oriented events and small local music festivals. That, in turn, led to a position doing production for Epic Records. During that time, she began planning personal events for many of her music industry-based clientele, a side project which served as segue into the world of wedding planning.

Kristin told YWD that her impetus for developing an interest in a wedding planning specialization was that she saw an opportunity for a more unique approach to the wedding industry. “I noticed a need in the industry for a new and less traditional voice with respect to the design and tone of weddings.” She recalled that it felt as though couples were looking for a way to put a

fresh spin on old, dated traditions and to create a look and a feel that could take them outside the box, away from white tulle, fussy outdated florals, and almond favor bags.

Giving couples that voice was her specific inspiration for creating Kristin Banta Events, which she established as a boutique business, with a further specialization in high-end productions.

Kristin’s continued inspiration is the opportunity to assist couples in finding ways to make their special wedding event both personal and relevant. “I am inspired by the idea of giving a wedding a point of view,” she told us, “so guests can have an experience that is indicative of the couple, and to walk away feeling like they were a part of a great party as well as a part of a turning point in two peoples lives.” She revealed that she loves the challenges this presents, the challenge of creating a seamless event where all aspects are both fluid and consistent, where there is a constant anticipation of what is next, and a sustained experience of all senses.

When we asked Kristin what she loves the most, she expressed that it is being a part of a family and a couple’s life during this transformational time, “A wedding brings entire families together and a lifetime’s worth of friends, all of whom have helped to shape and create each of the individuals, to celebrate two people saying ‘I pick this person for life.’”

“It’s an incredible sentiment to celebrate and it’s also an opportunity for a couple to celebrate the significant people in their lives who have helped to create the individuals that they have become.”  She conveyed to us that being a part of such an influential event in an entire family’s life is an incredible honor, something very different from her experiences in her work on other events.

Kristin, herself, has also been honored, and we discovered just how many noteworthy kudos she has received. She has been a contributor for Modern Bride and The Daily Breeze, and the weddings she has created have been published in InStyle Weddings, Inside Weddings, The Knot, Los Angeles Weddings, Life & Style, and Punk Rock Confidential, and we are particularly pleased to add that we’ve featured her in Your Wedding Day magazine.

Kristin Banta Events is a full planning service, “complete from A-Z.” These services range from Event Month Management, to Event Coordination (a partial service option), to Full Event Production. Although her home territory is Southern California, Los Angeles, Orange County, and Santa Barbara, she is willing to travel almost anywhere for your wedding. As she puts it, “Have clipboard, will travel!”

Because Kristin Banta Events is a more intimate, boutique wedding planning business, Kristin accepts only a limited number of clients so she is able to provide you with her time and her undivided attention throughout your wedding process.  Her goal is to really get to know  the bride and groom and then assist them in developing a unique wedding based on a look and feel designed around who the couple is, how they met, and reflective of what paths have lead them to this special moment. “We will work together as a trio to plan your wedding,” Kristin says, “My role will be to help you realize your vision and bring it to life.”

When you contact Kristin for your event planning needs, her services will be music to your ears.

Tips
  • # 1 - LOUNGING ANYWHERE
Wonder what to do to a resort ballroom to make it more interesting and intimate?  You can create individual lounge areas by renting tents of sheer flowing fabric and adding sofas and coffee tables with lots of candlelight in them.  You’ve suddenly created that romantic lounge atmosphere in a standard ballroom and given it more intimacy.  Your guests can move to different “rooms” during the cocktails hour or or they can dance the night away.

  • #26 MARRYING MINDFULLY
Creating the “perfect wedding” can easily overshadow what is really important about getting married—creating a sacred and lifelong bond with your beloved. Your wedding is not a “to-do” list. Take time to tend to your relationship and to yourselves so that you enter into the celebration relaxed, joyful, and with a full heart.

  • #16 COMFORTABLE RECEPTIONS
Reception spaces are taking on a comfort theme nowadays. Rather than using cocktail tables alone, couples are creating a lounge effect in their reception areas by adding cozy furniture groupings of sofas and coffee tables, along with tenting and draping, lamps and lanterns, lit up trees and dozens of candles. You may want to hire a jazz quartet or flamenco trio to create a sultry ambiance.  Some couples are even hiring cigar rollers!  You can also use this set-up outdoors for a living room beneath the stars!
