Kevin’s photography is prized for his location portraiture and his travel photojournalism as well as his wedding photography. He has traveled around the world, photographing celebrities from Wolfgang Puck and Christina Aguilera to Sir Elton John. While in photography school, Kevin’s portfolio was ranked among the top of his class, and his work was also featured in the Best of College Photography Annual.
A published photographer who likes to keep things fresh, new and ever-changing, Kevin loves photographing weddings because of the variety of approaches they offer. “I like to shoot differently even if I am at the same place. I do each wedding a little differently. I don’t like to do things over and over again,” he reveals. |

Some clients have used the word “voyeuristic” about his pictures—because he is literally peeking in their most intimate moments. “Just about every client that calls me comments on how I capture great moments that look authentic and not contrived, and that’s what they want.”
Lubera got his start in photography in 2001 and started traveling abroad taking nature and landscape photos. He took pictures at his cousin’s wedding and mailed out proofs as gifts to the newlyweds. “The feedback I received was overwhelmingly positive,” he says. “That is when I developed a passion for photographing weddings.”
Kevin’s photography has graced the pages of wedding magazines such as Pacific Weddings, Grace Ormonde Wedding Style and Los Angeles Weddings, and InStyle Weddings.
This gifted and talented man is inspired by many things, but certain elements really take note in his heart. “What inspires me about what I do is the impact that I make on peoples’ lives through my work— whether it’s capturing a special moment, creating a fine art print, or just the relationships that I develop with my clients,” Lubera shares enthusiastically.
Lubera developed his professional wedding skills working with renowned photographer Joe Buissink with whom he continues to work, conducting post-production work such as color correction, retouching, digital assets management and fine-art printing. “If there’s one noteworthy accomplishment I’ve achieved in this industry, quips Kevin, “it’s that I’m the first photographer who can claim to have had Joe Buissink as his 2nd shooter. When I started with Joe, he was looking for a photographer that could relieve him from doing group portraits. I did that, along with most of the detail shots and post-ceremony events.”
What makes Kevin Lubera’s wedding photography unique? “I do my best to ensure that my clients are comfortable working with me so the emotions and feelings they feel for one another are express, and I am there to capture that—I love just capturing those moments,” he says. “My business is based on giving my clients my entire attention. I give my clients my cell phone number so that they can reach me directly. I am typically the sole photographer. When a client hires me, it is my vision that they expect, and that is what I intend to give them.”
Kevin’s clients are attracted to working with him not only because of the quality of his work but also because they like his easygoing and approachable attitude, which he attributes to being from Hawaii. “I find that people trust me, and when clients trust their photographer, successful results are almost certain,” he says with a positive tone.
Lubera offers full photography coverage, album design, and fine art printing. “I do most of my fine art prints in house because in my experience that’s how I’ve managed to get the best results,” he reveals, adding “Currently, all of my tangible products are hand-made--custom-sized proof boxes, leather albums, matted and framed fine art prints. There is an overwhelming amount of options in the market today, and I am always on the lookout for something new to offer my clients.”
Lubera works primarily in the Los Angeles area but he frequently travels across the nation and internationally. “I will travel to just about any extent to photograph a wedding. If a couple were to get married in Antarctica, I would love for them to consider me.”

#11 QUICK FIX
Traveling with an emergency kit is like the American Express campaign, “Don’t leave home without it.” It should have everything from panty hose and nail glue to smelling salts and Tums, but the most commonly used item is SAFETY PINS! Although you should have a needle and thread, I have resorted to using safety pins for fixing hems on tuxedos, bustling the brides gown, pinning broken bra straps and creating a veil or headpiece out of tulle when the bride’s was left at home. Safety pins are great for a “quick fix.”

# 6 RECIPES FOR FAVORS
Gather together the favorite recipes that you remember as a child. They could be special family recipes, holiday menus, etc. Have them bound in small books, affix a wedding label on the front with your monogram and date that you were married. And there you have it, a unique favor that your guests will use again and again. Also, it is a wonderful way to acknowledge grandmothers and mothers.

# 1 - LOUNGING ANYWHERE
Wonder what to do to a resort ballroom to make it more interesting and intimate? You can create individual lounge areas by renting tents of sheer flowing fabric and adding sofas and coffee tables with lots of candlelight in them. You’ve suddenly created that romantic lounge atmosphere in a standard ballroom and given it more intimacy. Your guests can move to different “rooms” during the cocktails hour or or they can dance the night away. Jill La Fleur, The Wedding Planner
