Floramor is an amazing floral design studio based in San Francisco that
knows how to satisfy clients and keep things fresh and new. With
connections worldwide to obtaining flowers, the slogan “we use what’s
in season” is not part of their motto but rather, their company’s
mission statement is “budget is considered, but quality is never
comprised.” Owner and Master Floral/Event Designer and Coordinator,
Laura Little perfectly explains, “We utilize every flower from all over
the world—roses from South America, flowers from Holland and Europe,
orchids from the Far East. We can acquire anything at anytime,” she
noted with a confident tone. It’s no wonder that for twenty

years,
Floramor has been such a success that they are no stranger to working
with high-profile and high-demanding events. “We embellish the lobby of
the Ritz Carlton which they know us as a company they can count on for
quality and service,” she said.
The sophisticated company creates numerous incredible floral arrangements—something as simple as white peonies with white ostrich feathers to a soft, romantic bouquet of pale pink peonies and cream lisianthus dotted with delicate clusters of fragrant Lily of the Valley. An opulent bouquet perfect for a summer wedding would include vibrant shades of coral peonies, fuchsia orchids, peach Parrot tulips, and lush amber garden roses. A divine-heavenly scented mix would include white, peachy-apricot colored flowers, in a vibrant cloud of garden roses, peonies, Juliette roses, hydrangeas, and exotic white orchid blooms.
“People come to us and recommend us, because we are detail-oriented—listening to brides as to how they respond to certain colors and textures, and coming up with a full design is key,” Little states. And although their reputation precedes them as being simply amazing, Floramor welcomes all sizes of weddings from intimate gatherings to grand occasions, from small budgets to deep pockets. “We don’t have a minimum— we’d never impose what one’s budget should be, in fact, we never say no to smaller weddings.” Floramor wants to express to brides and grooms that it’s okay to call a high-profile business such as theirs regardless of one’s budget, Little expands, “Some are afraid to call us, but if a bride loves our work enough to call… well, everybody deserves to have the best,” she said in a reassuring tone. There is one strong reason why Floramor does not turn away anyone: “Our heart is in it,” Little emphasized.
Floramor provides a multifaceted service customized specifically for each client. They can design the flowers, or they can take over all design, production, and coordination aspects of the event. “I always tell couples that we can do as little or as much as they need us to. We are flexible and able to sway easily with changes as they come up in the planning process. We have years of experience in working with most venues in the Bay Area and we have solid, loyal relationships with the vendors in the industry,” she said.
Having been blessed with an abundance of great opportunities to hone their diverse floral skills, Floramor’s design abilities vary in a wide range. “We have worked in private gardens where the designs we created had to match the lushness of the event setting. We have worked in modern hotels where minimalism screamed as the style,” Little noted. Floramor is always staying ahead with the trends and constantly creating new ideas for floral use. “We begin again each January, when we spend time conceiving two-to-three designs to showcase for that year,” Little comments creatively, “I think each year is about creating something new to excite the clients that already know us— and to catch the attention of those clients with whom we have yet to work with,” she said passionately.
There are moments when floral designer Little knows she is onto envisioning something quite amazing for a client. “I know that I have created something exceptional when I forget to breathe. I get so into the colors, the texture, the mood, and the atmosphere of an event,” she remarked, adding, “In creating a design… I try to step outside of my preconceived ideas and habits and look at things from a totally new point of view. I am inspired by the simplest things sometimes. It may be the color of a client’s eyes, or the fact that she talks lovingly about her grandmother making it to the wedding. My clients are my inspiration for the most part,” Little explains. When Little works with a client she can be very inspired by many things. “I am inspired by the intricacies of nature, leaves and the veins, the sound of water, the fragrance of dirt and moss. Nature, in general, is perfect so if you just look at that— you cannot help but find inspiration as to the colors and textures that most people respond to.”
Her inspiration continues through the beauty of nature. “I can tell by how brides and grooms respond to photos of our work as to what that magic thread is. It may be round shapes, a unifying color, or the fact that every photo they love was of a particular flower….but the information is all there. The inspiration for each event comes from the client’s taste, blended with my desire to push the finished look past their expectations,” she notes with perfect imagery.
Creating florals for weddings is a big task, but a very rewarding, and challenging one for Floramor. The company strives to create amazing pieces that are saturated with luxuriousness, that evoke emotion, and have a fresh and lush feel. “I always think that if I can get the father of the bride to tear up… I have done my job well. I love to see how happy the families are—how much the day brings out the love that they feel –and I feel humbled that I have some small part in making that day all come together for them,” Little said.
Floramor services the San Francisco and immediate Bay Area, Napa, Carmel, Mendocino, Midcoast California such as Big Sur, Yosemite, Lake Tahoe on a fairly regular basis. “We have traveled to Oregon, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Hawaii, and the Caribbean as well, and we are willing to travel for you!” Little concludes enthusiastically.

# 6 RECIPES FOR FAVORS
Gather together the favorite recipes that you remember as a child. They could be special family recipes, holiday menus, etc. Have them bound in small books, affix a wedding label on the front with your monogram and date that you were married. And there you have it, a unique favor that your guests will use again and again. Also, it is a wonderful way to acknowledge grandmothers and mothers.

#31 FLORAL DECOR
No wedding is complete without flowers. Try updating the traditional
centerpiece by using masses of your favorite flowers in a variety of
complementary tones for added texture and interest. For instance, if
your bloom-of-choice is the gerbera daisy, try one centerpiece with
dozens of red gerberas, another with orange, and another with
fuchsia-colored bunches. Let your imagination run wild!

#11 QUICK FIX
Traveling with an emergency kit is like the American Express campaign, “Don’t leave home without it.” It should have everything from panty hose and nail glue to smelling salts and Tums, but the most commonly used item is SAFETY PINS! Although you should have a needle and thread, I have resorted to using safety pins for fixing hems on tuxedos, bustling the brides gown, pinning broken bra straps and creating a veil or headpiece out of tulle when the bride’s was left at home. Safety pins are great for a “quick fix.”
