Destination Weddings Done Right:
Events by Evonne, Wedding Planning and Design
Your wedding should be all about you, naturally: your needs, your wants
and your vision. Your event planner, then, needs to be there to
service, especially if you’re in the market for a destination wedding.
Your go to? Evonne Wong of Events by Evonne.
Evonne specializes in a style she calls “simple elegance,” with her
region of expertise Hawaii and Northern California. “We try to achieve
a look that is more simple, not over the top,” said Evonne. |

“People think
that because the event is in Hawaii, it is more casual but it is not
that way at all! I like a more fashionable, more urban look if I can.
Of course it depends on the bride, but I like to have some more style.”
From designing an outdoor destination wedding in Hawaii to an elegant
ballroom affair in San Francisco, Events by Evonne can cater events
both large and intimate.
As of resident of both locales, Evonne has an extensive list of vendors and contacts to draw upon.
Events by Evonne is based around Evonne’s belief in strong customer service and personal attention. “I genuinely love weddings and I really care about my clients,” she said. “Clients have to feel comfortable with me because I really get into their lives. Otherwise, I can’t bring their vision to their wedding.”
Her cardinal rules? “Never let emails sit for more than 24 hours and always acknowledge a voicemail, especially regarding destination weddings.”
A certified wedding consultant with a background in advertising, event planning and an MBA in business administration, Evonne fully understands each aspect of the business of wedding planning.
As a full-service boutique event planning, coordination and design company, Events by Evonne is able to fully customize the entire experience from selecting the color palette to finding you an officiate to selecting that perfect favor. Evonne is even available to accompany clients on scouting trips to the desired venue and location.
Events by Evonne has already caused a buzz since the founding in October of 2007. Wedding Wire saluted Events by Evonne with the Bride’s Choice award and Away Soiree deigned Evonne’s blog, which she updates daily and uses as a way to connect with future and current clients, in their top 100 this year. Events by Evonne weddings have also been featured on blogs such as Style Me Pretty and Project Wedding.
Evonne’s most noteworthy accomplishment, however? “It’s when the client or their guests approach me at the end of the evening to tell me how much they have enjoyed the wedding and it totally exceeded their expectations,” she said.

#11 QUICK FIX
Traveling with an emergency kit is like the American Express campaign, “Don’t leave home without it.” It should have everything from panty hose and nail glue to smelling salts and Tums, but the most commonly used item is SAFETY PINS! Although you should have a needle and thread, I have resorted to using safety pins for fixing hems on tuxedos, bustling the brides gown, pinning broken bra straps and creating a veil or headpiece out of tulle when the bride’s was left at home. Safety pins are great for a “quick fix.”

# 6 RECIPES FOR FAVORS
Gather together the favorite recipes that you remember as a child. They could be special family recipes, holiday menus, etc. Have them bound in small books, affix a wedding label on the front with your monogram and date that you were married. And there you have it, a unique favor that your guests will use again and again. Also, it is a wonderful way to acknowledge grandmothers and mothers.

# 1 - LOUNGING ANYWHERE
Wonder what to do to a resort ballroom to make it more interesting and intimate? You can create individual lounge areas by renting tents of sheer flowing fabric and adding sofas and coffee tables with lots of candlelight in them. You’ve suddenly created that romantic lounge atmosphere in a standard ballroom and given it more intimacy. Your guests can move to different “rooms” during the cocktails hour or or they can dance the night away. Jill La Fleur, The Wedding Planner
