Duke Photography in Action

Duke Khodaverdian of Duke Photography is a first-rate photographic artist, capturing every moment of your wedding with the skill and vision of a cinematographer and the timelessness of a classic painter. Duke’s unique skill set, distinctive style, and singular attention to client satisfaction make him an elite and highly sought-after gem in the wedding profession.

After receiving his degree in photography, Duke experienced and excelled in a wide range of photographic styles and industries, from fashion to film, architecture to travel, but his true calling was found with wedding photography.

An eleven-year veteran in the wedding industry, Duke is no stranger to wedding photography, but it is his experience with all aspects of film and photography that contribute to his matchless style. While working in film and television, Duke learned the importance of light and became and expert in numerous techniques to make the most of every shot.

Armed with his cadre of cameras, film-grade lights, and an unparalleled eye for beauty, Duke constructs his masterpieces. Each photo is a piece of art, with each and every element, not only the subject, working together “in harmony,” says Duke, “like composing a painting. For me, if the lighting, backgrounds, and compositional elements don’t come together right, then the shot just isn’t done.” Duke allows the wedding and the location dictate the photos, taking full advantage of every photo opportunity. This attention to each wedding as a new and individual event ensures that you never get a “cookie cutter regimen” from Duke Photography—every wedding photo, like the wedding itself, is one-of-a-kind.

All his accumulated skill and experience yields a style wholly unique and stunning. One need only glimpse the sample galleries on his website to be completely enraptured by the sense of place, beauty, and genuine emotion exuding from Duke’s work. Duke’s style eludes attempts to pin it down with a single descriptor. It is at once vintage in its timelessness, yet contemporary in its approach. The closest term to describe Duke’s multifaceted method is “cinematic” because it always conveys the story of the event, elevated to extraordinary extravagance and grandeur. One of Duke’s favorite parts is to “just shock and wow people when they think they are so normal and ordinary.” Duke Photography will make you a star and capture the radiance of your greatest and most important performance with a grace and splendor you will enjoy for years to come.

All the skills of this L.A.-based photography savant are made perfect by his consistent professionalism, discretion, and friendliness. Duke makes it very clear that he always has his clients comfort and interests as his top priority: “it’s all about the client… I shoot for the client.” When you choose Duke Photography, you know that you are getting an exceptional professional and photos that will encapsulate the love, energy, and wonder of your wedding forever.

Tips
  • #16 COMFORTABLE RECEPTIONS
Reception spaces are taking on a comfort theme nowadays. Rather than using cocktail tables alone, couples are creating a lounge effect in their reception areas by adding cozy furniture groupings of sofas and coffee tables, along with tenting and draping, lamps and lanterns, lit up trees and dozens of candles. You may want to hire a jazz quartet or flamenco trio to create a sultry ambiance.  Some couples are even hiring cigar rollers!  You can also use this set-up outdoors for a living room beneath the stars!

  • #26 MARRYING MINDFULLY
Creating the “perfect wedding” can easily overshadow what is really important about getting married—creating a sacred and lifelong bond with your beloved. Your wedding is not a “to-do” list. Take time to tend to your relationship and to yourselves so that you enter into the celebration relaxed, joyful, and with a full heart.

  • # 6  RECIPES FOR FAVORS
Gather together the favorite recipes that you remember as a child. They could be special family recipes, holiday menus, etc.  Have them bound in small books, affix a wedding label on the front with your monogram and date that you were married. And there you have it, a unique favor that your guests will use again and again. Also, it is a wonderful way to acknowledge grandmothers and mothers.
